Wednesday - April 18 - Glekondji Togo

500 kits delivered on this hot and sunny day. Roads to Glekondji were much better (2 hour drive each way) than yesterday which made the day more pleasant. Team is working like a well oiled machine at this point with all knowing how to backfill for others and all are getting along famously. As usual, kids were beautiful and great and the teachers very appreciative. We have learned from our prior experiences and weathered the heat better by ensuring all workers were in the shade as much as possible and well hydrated.

A bit of souvenir shopping was done in the afternoon back in Lome today in a very laid back and zero pressure small market run by the individuals who actually manufacture the handicrafts hawked by the characters encountered earlier in the week. Topped up at the grocery store - looking forward to the shrimp meal we ordered for tomorrow. Also visited our chef's little business of selling school supplies and SIM cards. Floor space is approx 6 x 12 feet just outside the main market but it is spotless (see pics below). We met his wife and daughter while there. A hard working and determined family.

Closing thought at end of day?

A good team knows how to adapt on the fly and can count on others to intuitively know when to help out / backfill. Any objective, when focused on simultaneously by a dedicated and synchronized team is achievable.

Our reception committee! Check out the kid in the middle with the red shirt. A future leader with that pose!
